While food companies’ purpose should be to feed us (duh!), something must’ve gone wrong at some point because it seems to me that their actual purpose is to make money at any cost. And sometimes that cost is the very health of you and me, the consumer. Food engineers worked hard, sometimes too hard, to find ingredients that make packaged food taste good, to the point where it has become more addictive than street drugs.

And when consumers have started to figure out that some of these foods were less than nutritious and were bound to cause diabetes, obesity and heart failure, we started to get bombarded with these “healthy foods” that claim to be be low in sugar, low in fat, low-calorie and so forth.
